Sarah's Circle offers daytime supportive services in a welcoming, safe refuge for women who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless. We respect each woman and her individuality, and offer her the opportunity to make positive changes in her life. We work toward ending homelessness by providing options, services and advocacy, meeting the needs of the women who come through our doors.


  • Sarah's is the only agency in Uptown community of Chicago that is solely dedicated to serving women who are homeless.
  • Sarah's specializes entirely in drop-in services for women.
  • An average of 40 women enters Sarah's doors daily, over 60 daily during our busiest times.

Sarah's offers a 3-part approach to improving the quality of life for the women:

  • Life-sustaining physical services
  • Socialization and image-building activities
  • Advocacy and case management

Our services include:

  • Safe refuge from the streets for women 5 days a week
  • Five hot meals a week
  • Showers and bathroom facilities, personal hygiene items and toiletries
  • Laundry facilities
  • Free clothing
  • An address and telephone number for the women's use
  • The Women's Response Committee, to give the women a voice
  • Case management activities such as job, shelter and housing referrals, help with entitlements, substance abuse recovery program referrals, domestic violence and sexual assault referrals, developing individual goals and plans, and ancillary service referrals
  • Support and skill-building groups such as substance abuse recovery, life skills workshops, culinary arts training, domestic violence and sexual assault survivors
  • Participation in community-wide advocacy efforts
  • Art and recreational activities, field trips, picnics, TV, movies, parties
  • Computer lab
  • On-site services in partnership with other agencies: health care, mental health care and podiatry
